Kids on the Run!
Delta-Peach Bottom’s After-school
Character and Wellness program
We are excited to start our 13th year of this program for both 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls here at DPB.
- The focus of this after school program is health and wellness. Our goals are to increase self-esteem, understand living a healthy lifestyle and challenge each student to improve their physical ability.
- The program will divide the students by gender. This will allow the “coaches” to tailor instruction to both girls’ and boys’ needs. However, there will be an opportunity for collaboration between both groups.
- Head coaches are: Mr. Sledge, Mr. Withrow, Mr. Myers, Ms. Polhemus, Ms. Giardina, and Ms. Stone.
- Our sessions are from 3:00pm– 4:30pm every Tuesday from March 4th to May 6th.
- Our required final culminating activity will be a “Kids Run” 5K run/walk held here in Delta on Saturday, May 10th. This is a very important part of our curriculum and we require your son/daughter to be present on this day.
A $25 registration fee is required. If you need financial assistance, please see one of the coaches to make other arrangements. We do not want to turn any student away due to financial situations.
- Please contact Mr. Sledge ([email protected]) by email or written note if your child will be absent for any session. Due to the importance of group dynamics and preparation of activities, students who are absent for more than three (3) practices will no longer be eligible to participate.
- Each student is required to wear comfortable shoes for running/walking. By no means do you need to purchase “running shoes.” However, students will not be able to participate if they are wearing boots, dress shoes, etc. If you have any questions, please contact one of the coaches.
- Please have your child bring a water bottle to every session. He/she may bring an empty water bottle that they can fill up at school.
- Please make the coaches aware of any medical concerns or allergies.
- Encourage your child to dress appropriately for physical activities. This would include sweatpants or shorts. Preferably no jeans or skirts. Additionally, please have them dress appropriately for the weather. We will try to be outside as much as possible. However, due to weather conditions we may be forced to move inside.
- Please arrive promptly at 4:30pm for pick up. Please be courteous and plan accordingly. If you need to pick up your child early for any reason, please notify us prior to that day so that we can make arrangements to have your child ready for pick up at the main entrance of the school. If another person is picking up your child, we must have written permission from you in order to release your child to that person.
- You will be required to sign out your student at the end of each practice. If your student will be picked up by someone else other than that person listed on the registration form, please send in a note.
- Sessions will not be held on days that the students do not have school or have a half-day. There will be no “make-up” sessions.
- Snacks will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own snack if they wish.
